Shirley's Story
Shirley began her career as a Medical Laboratory Scientist at the Philippine General Hospital, where she met her husband, Ken Olley, in 1994. Together, they pioneered organic honey production in Queensland, managing over 5,000 hives and becoming the first certified organic honey producers in the state.
Her time in the apiculture industry sparked a deep interest in environmental sustainability, prompting her to pursue further studies in environmental science and law. Shirley completed her legal qualifications as a mature student—often studying by candlelight in remote bushlands, trucks, and caravans—while continuing to work and raise a family.
With more than 30 years of experience in business and agriculture, Shirley now leads her boutique legal practice, combining deep sector knowledge with a commitment to supporting her community.
